Storage Angels is the solution for the unsold storage locker problem, estimated at up to a million cubic square feet of unwanted storage contents (up to half of all unsold stuff annually), costing self-storage companies millions of dollars in dump fees annually. Storage Angels is a non for profit start up with a mission to distribute useable household goods from ~4 thousand US storage lockers slated for the dump every year to worthy organizations, charities, the poor, and temporarily displaced.

The solution can be executed 'profitably' in economic terms for charities, provided the process is streamlined and some of the costs are fronted by volunteer time. In other words, Storage Angels is seeking to create economic value from 'trash to treasure' conversion and distribute the resulting economic rent to worthy causes, the poor, and charities. Monetary realizations from sold goods will be donated to charities seeking to help homeless and displaced workers get back into the workforce, in other words, help giving them the tools to be self-sustaining.
The current motto of Storage Angels is: Change. One Locker at a Time. The organization is currently at its grassroots stage, making impact by clearing lockers in the NYC metropolitan area, and donating/ distributing goods to local charities. The vision for the future of Storage Angels is that it will serve as both:
1) A clear-out/ reselling conduit, holding inventory of goods, and distributing/ selling it for worthy causes.
2) An intermediary platform/ marketplace, standing between self-storage facilities & charitable organizations.
Aa a marketplace, Storage Angels will collect platform maintenance fees from self-storage firms, who will be posting pictures of unsold lockers on the platform. Charities onboarded onto Storage Angels will choose to accept specific lockers for their current needs, and negotiate clean- out terms directly with storage facilities in their local areas. Over time, Storage Angels expects to hold less inventory and shift its vision more towards the Marketplace / Intermediary model. This solution requires technical skills, and manpower to onboard storage facilities and charities.
